Search Engine Optimization (SEO) focuses on enhancing a website or web page's Internet presence by gaining a higher position on search engine results pages, commonly referred to as SERP's. The process of SEO involves a combination of programming, development, content management, linking and more. There are two main categories of Search Engine Optimization: On-site SEO and Off-site SEO. On-site SEO focuses on manipulating the code, content, and structure of the website or web pages with the goal to create more optimal results from search engines in relation to specific search queries.
On-site SEO Keyword Research - Keyword research is the first step in search engine optimization. By utilizing different online research tools, specific keywords and keyword phrases can be analyzed in terms of their search volume or search popularity. Selected keywords can then be used to optimize web pages by inserting them in Meta data which is part of the underlying programming code of a website, and through Content Optimization which is the visible text and images of each web page. Meta data or meta tags are HTML codes that are not seen by users, but instead provide data directly to search engines. Meta tags include Title, Description, and Keywords which are developed from keyword research.
Off-site SEO consists mainly of developing and gaining links to a website from outside websites. In the past, Google developed the idea that the number of links to a website was a key measurement of the site's importance. More recently, however, links from "high authority" websites have far more importance to ranking than the quantity of backlinks.
Content Optimization - Content optimization may be the most important component of SEO. In the business of search engine optimization, content is king. Creating content that is optimally prepared for search engine indexing is the focus of any SEO campaign and it's an art that blends the creative skills of a copywriter and the technical skills of an SEO specialist. Content optimization is about prominently and tactfully including select keywords and keyword phrases into the copy on a web page to appeal to prospects searching for specific goods and services.

BURLINGTON, VT--(Marketwire - March 26, 2009) - Bringing social media, landing pages and online marketing to The Woodstock Inn's hotel marketing by Burlington, Vermont agency Shark Communications represents a marketing model increasingly being embraced by the Travel and Hospitality industry. Shark's mix of market positioning, branding and online and social media marketing is a dramatic shift from traditional hotel marketing programs that appropriate expenditures to different media without an integrated strategy.
Located in Woodstock, Vermont, which has been called "...one of America's prettiest towns," The Woodstock Inn's marketing (managed by Shark), now relies more heavily on the use of online media -- especially landing pages for the hotel's customer acquisition. The landing pages Shark develops for the Inn & Resort generally consist of simplified, organized special offers and packages that are placed on a well-optimized, single web page that then links directly to a booking engine or the Inn's central web site. Landing pages can generally be deployed relatively quickly with visitor traffic cultivated through online advertising, Search Engine Marketing, and optimized PR. To deepen and extend customer relationships, an online loyalty program linked to a branded hotel social media web site was created by Shark, which the agency then markets through popular social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Despite current economic conditions, the Inn continues to realize positive results from its marketing initiatives, has recently opened a new, upscale restaurant, The Red Rooster, and is looking forward to the expected 2010 opening of a new, on-site spa.
Our webs design for banks and bank website development service extends all the way back to 1993. These headers represent the overall bank branding strategy that permeates landing pages on the new bank website. On-site spa posters are now moving forward with the new logo and website development.

Marketing for The Spa at The Woodstock Inn & Resort continues to unfold with a new website. The micor-site is designed to integrate with the resort's main website, utilizes a soft palette, and builds off of the "sprig" logo.
Landing pages are customized, online sales strategies that generally produce much better conversion rates than simply directing people into the home page of a web site. Landing pages have proven themselves as fast and nimble, online lead generation and customer acquisition tools. Well-crafted landing pages almost always sport better conversion rates than simply dumping people into the home page of your site. During the "economic crisis" we used the economy of landing pages in place of large scale web development to support our clients businesses. However, with Google's "birdge page" penalties, we're now moving some landing pages inside the main website and continuing to direct traffic with a mix of SEM and our Digital PR. Works great!
